It isn't always easy to eat healthy while subsisting on a steady diet of Ramen noodles and pancake mix. While you try to make the best nutritional choices on a limited income, it isn't always easy coming up with creative new ways to serve up macaroni and cheese.

While most of your culinary choices might be modest, at least it doesn't have to be the same boring thing each night.

If you have a recipe idea that helped you through the lean times, share it with Barry, and we'll post it here.

Lipton Stove Top Surprise PDF Print E-mail
Written by Barry
1  Lipton (or another brand) Noodle or Rice Package that is made
with a saucepan on the stovetop.

 2 Quart Saucepan.

 2  Cups water.

 1  Tablespoon margarine or butter.

1  6 oz can of tuna (drained), I use Chunk Light Tuna in Spring
Water.

1  8 1/2 oz can of Del Monte fresh cut Sweet Peas.

Follow directions on back of Lipton package, adding Tuna and Sweet
Peas at the same time you add the Lipton package contents.

You can experiment with other items to your own liking, diced celery,
carrots, almonds, various seasonings, whatever you feel like adding.

If you don`t have the use of a stove, go and buy a few cans of sterno,
as it is very easy to rig a platform from a wire coat hanger, so that the
saucepan can sit over the sterno to cook. If you do use the sterno, be
sure to remember that this is an OPEN FLAME, so be VERY
CAREFUL as to being sure that the flame NEVER gets knocked over,
and that once it is out, it is not put away until it has been given
enough time to COOL DOWN.
